Part One — Steps Aren't Enough Hey, welcome back to Navvy Tales! It's Dr. Toye. Wow — look how much you've built. You've got your Direction. You've got your Anchors and your Rules. And you know how to take tiny steps up any mountain. That's a whole toolkit! But here's a tricky little catch. You can take a hundred tiny steps... in the wrong direction... and still end up totally lost. Taking action isn't enough all by itself. You need a way to make sure today's step actually makes tomorrow's step smarter. Because here's what most people do instead. They feel something, they react to it, something happens, and then — they never stop to learn from it. They just keep reacting, over and over. I call that Drift. It's like being a little boat with nobody steering, just floating wherever the water pushes you. You're moving, sure... but you have no idea where you'll end up. So how do you stop drifting? You use a Loop. Part Two — The Loop: Four Moves The Loop is a little circle you go around, again and again, every time you do something that matters. And guess what — it's made of tools you already know. There are four moves. Move one: Notice. Before you do anything, just check in — like a pilot glancing at the dashboard before takeoff. What's going on outside you? And inside you? Is your Battery low right now? Does this feel safe, or is your Trust part a little uneasy? Don't judge any of it. Just read it, honestly, right now. (Most people skip this — they guess how they feel instead of actually checking.) Move two: Name It. Remember this one? You take that foggy feeling and put it into clear words. Not just "I'm upset." More like, "My Stand-Up-For-Myself part is fighting my Get-It-Done part, because I've been at this too long and I need a break." Now you actually know what's going on. Move three: Take One Tiny Step. Now you move — but on purpose. You pick your Next Tiny Step, and before you start, you do your coach move: pick the right character for the job. If it's time to work, you put Get-It-Done in charge — not your panicking Trust part. Move four: Look Back. This is the one everybody forgets, and it's the secret sauce. After your step, you pause and ask: What did I learn? Did that help my Direction? That's it. No judging — just learning. Part Three — The Loop That Makes You Smarter And then? You go around again. Notice, Name It, Tiny Step, Look Back. Notice, Name It, Tiny Step, Look Back. Here's the magic of going in circles like this. Every single loop makes you a little bit smarter. Your steps start to match your Direction better. And your Direction gets clearer because of your steps. They feed each other. It's like leveling up in a video game — every try teaches you something, so your next try is better. And this is the best part: when a tiny step doesn't work, it's not a failure. It's just information. You take that "oops," you learn from it in your Look Back, and you use it to pick an even better next step. Nothing is wasted. There's a big word for this smart, self-improving way of living: Coherence. It doesn't mean you're certain about everything. It doesn't mean life is perfectly steady. It just means your actions and your Direction keep teaching each other — so you keep getting wiser as you go. So stop drifting. Start looping. Notice, Name It, Tiny Step, Look Back — around and around, getting a little sharper every time. Alright, I'll let us pause there. Thanks for navigating with me today. Take care — and keep pointing yourself forward. Not toward being perfect, just toward your next true direction. See you next time on Navvy Tales!
